These Terms of Service govern access to and use of MarkdownToHTML.online and its related tools, features, and content, collectively referred to as the “Service.”

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

1. Description of the Service

MarkdownToHTML.online provides a free browser-based tool for converting Markdown content into HTML.

Among other things, the Service may allow you to:

  • Write, paste, or edit Markdown.
  • Open .md, .markdown, or .txt files.
  • Generate an HTML preview.
  • Edit content through the editor or preview.
  • Copy Markdown, HTML, or rich text.
  • Download Markdown or HTML files.
  • Automatically save the current document in your browser.
  • Process certain Markdown extensions, code, formulas, diagrams, or emojis.

No account is required to use the current version of the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must have sufficient legal capacity to accept these Terms.

If you use the Service on behalf of a company, organization, or other entity, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms on its behalf.

Minors should use the Service only with the authorization and supervision of a legal guardian where required by applicable law.

3. License to use the Service

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to access and use the Service for legitimate personal or professional purposes in accordance with these Terms.

This license does not transfer rights in:

  • The MarkdownToHTML.online trademark.
  • The website’s design, interface, and graphical elements.
  • Proprietary Service code.
  • Our documentation and website content.

4. Your content

You retain any rights you hold in content that you type, paste, open, or generate through the Service.

Because conversion is primarily performed in your browser, we normally do not need to receive or store your content on our servers.

You authorize only the temporary technical operations required to provide the functions you request on your device. This authorization does not give us the right to sell, publish, or use your content for advertising.

You are responsible for:

  • Having the right to use and transform the content.
  • Respecting copyright, trademark, privacy, and other third-party rights.
  • Ensuring that the content does not violate the law.
  • Maintaining backups where necessary.
  • Reviewing generated HTML before publishing it or integrating it into another system.

5. Local processing and autosave

The current document may be automatically stored in your browser’s local storage.

Autosave:

  • Is not a permanent storage service.
  • Is not a substitute for a backup.
  • May be lost if you clear browser data, use private browsing, change devices, or your browser removes local storage.
  • May be accessible to other people using the same browser profile or device.

We are not responsible for content lost when it was stored only in your browser.

Use the download functions to preserve important copies.

6. Files and technical limits

The current version of the Service supports .md, .markdown, and .txt files.

Technical limits may apply, including:

  • An approximate maximum file size of 400 KB.
  • An approximate maximum of 100,000 characters per document.
  • Limits resulting from browser memory, performance, or compatibility.

We may modify these limits to protect the operation, security, or availability of the Service.

7. Permitted use

You may use the Service for legitimate purposes, including:

  • Preparing website content.
  • Converting documentation.
  • Creating drafts for content-management systems.
  • Generating HTML for templates, publications, or applications.
  • Experimenting with Markdown and HTML syntax.

The Service must not be used to cause harm or violate rights.

8. Prohibited use

You must not use the Service to:

  • Violate laws or third-party rights.
  • Create, distribute, or facilitate malware, malicious code, or content intended to compromise systems.
  • Attempt unauthorized access to servers, accounts, networks, or infrastructure.
  • Interfere with the operation or security of the Service.
  • Send abusive automated requests or impose a disproportionate load.
  • Deliberately bypass technical limits or security measures.
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your relationship with an entity.
  • Store or process information that you have no right to use.
  • Enter illegal content with the intention of publishing, distributing, or causing harm.

We may restrict or block access when we detect abusive, unsafe, or prohibited use.

9. Accuracy and review of outputs

Conversion depends on factors including:

  • The syntax of the original document.
  • Markdown extensions being used.
  • Browser compatibility.
  • The system into which the HTML will be inserted.
  • Stylesheets and security rules of the destination website.

We do not guarantee that an output will:

  • Appear identically in every browser or system.
  • Automatically satisfy all accessibility standards.
  • Be compatible with every CMS, framework, or editor.
  • Preserve the exact formatting expected.
  • Be error-free.
  • Be suitable for legal, financial, medical, security-sensitive, or mission-critical use.

You must review, test, and validate outputs before using them in production.

10. Security of generated content

Although the Service may apply cleaning or sanitization measures, no automated process replaces a security review.

Before publishing generated HTML, you should review:

  • Links and external destinations.
  • Images and remote resources.
  • HTML attributes.
  • Embedded code.
  • Content received from untrusted sources.
  • Compatibility with the destination system’s security policy.

You must not assume that an output is secure solely because it was generated or displayed by the Service.

11. Service intellectual property

MarkdownToHTML.online and its proprietary elements are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

You may not copy, redistribute, sell, sublicense, or commercially exploit proprietary Service elements unless:

  • Permitted by law.
  • Expressly authorized by us.
  • The relevant element is governed by an open-source license that permits the intended use.

These Terms do not restrict rights granted by the licenses of open-source components included in the Service.

12. Open-source components

The Service may incorporate open-source libraries and components for Markdown processing, HTML sanitization, syntax highlighting, or other functionality.

Each component remains subject to its applicable license. If these Terms conflict with an open-source license regarding that component, the open-source license controls.

The Service may display links to or support content referring to third-party websites, resources, or services.

We do not necessarily control or endorse those services and are not responsible for:

  • Their availability.
  • Their content.
  • Their privacy practices.
  • Their security.
  • Their terms.
  • Losses resulting from their use.

Your relationship with a third party is governed by that third party’s own terms and policies.

14. Privacy

Information associated with use of the Service is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

By using the Service, you acknowledge that certain preferences and the current document may be stored locally in your browser.

15. Availability and changes

The Service is currently provided free of charge.

To the extent permitted by law, we may:

  • Modify features.
  • Correct errors.
  • Change technical limits.
  • Add or remove format support.
  • Temporarily suspend the Service.
  • Interrupt features for maintenance or security.
  • Discontinue part or all of the Service.

We will try to avoid unnecessary disruption, but we do not guarantee continuous or error-free availability.

If paid functionality is introduced in the future, applicable prices and conditions will be presented before a purchase is made.

16. Disclaimer of warranties

To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.”

We make no express or implied warranty regarding:

  • Uninterrupted availability.
  • Complete absence of errors.
  • Compatibility with every device.
  • Absolute accuracy of outputs.
  • Fitness for a particular purpose.
  • Permanent preservation of content.
  • Complete absence of vulnerabilities.

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot legally be limited.

17. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MarkdownToHTML.online and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss resulting from:

  • Use of or inability to use the Service.
  • Loss of documents or data stored in the browser.
  • Errors in generated HTML.
  • Incompatibility with other systems.
  • Publication of content without review.
  • Use of external links or resources.
  • Interruptions, errors, or incidents outside our reasonable control.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it will be limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot legally be excluded, including liability arising from intentional misconduct, fraud, applicable personal injury claims, or mandatory consumer rights.

18. Suspension or termination

You may stop using the Service at any time.

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access where reasonably necessary to:

  • Protect the security of the Service.
  • Prevent abuse.
  • Comply with a legal obligation.
  • Investigate a possible violation.
  • Prevent harm to users, third parties, or infrastructure.

Termination does not affect provisions that are intended by their nature to remain effective.

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect:

The updated version will be published with a new “Last updated” date.

Disputes will be submitted to the competent courts determined under applicable procedural and consumer-protection law.

If you are a consumer, this provision does not restrict your right to bring proceedings before the courts available to you or any mandatory rights granted by the laws of your country of residence.

21. General provisions

If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.

A failure to exercise a right immediately does not waive that right.

You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without authorization where the assignment would adversely affect the operation or security of the Service. We may carry out corporate reorganizations or operational transfers in accordance with applicable law.

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any applicable specific notice, form the agreement governing use of the Service.
